6th Year of Spandan Powai Sharadotsav; Theme of Specially Abled People

Spandan Powai Sharadotsav 2018 will be celebrated with traditional pomp and splendour from 13th-19th October’18.  This is the 6th year of Spandan Powai Sharadotsav. The Khuti Puja took place recently.

In its sixth year, Powai Sharadotsav’s theme is about “Specially Abled People”.  These people live a very challenging life and many often see their ‘disability’ as their ‘inability’. People in general have preconceived notions about their capabilities. Powai Sharadotsav plan to focus on the abilities and achievement of these differently abled people so that society comprehends the truth.

The Logo for Powai Sharadotsav, the Durga Idol, Décor etc will all reflect the theme for the year.  As a true reflection of the theme, the key highlights of the this year SharadOtsav 2018 will be:

  • Eminent Artist from Indian Foot & Mouth Painting Association to showcase their talent on the day of the Inauguration (13th Oct)
  • Performance by Udaan Entertainment Group formed of professional Differently Abled Artist at the Inaugural Ceremony of Powai SharadOtsav 2018
  • Musical Performance by Students of Victoria School of Blind
  • Association with reputed NGO’s working with Differently Abled People
  • Showcase handicraft items made by Indian Mouth & Foot Painters Association of India
  • Extend relevant assistance to NGO’s working in this field

This year, Powai SharadOstav 2018 will host the famous Baul/Folk Singer Couple from Calcutta – Gangadhar & Tulika  on 14th Oct 2018 . Versatile playback singers Dev Negi and Nikita Gandhi will get the crowd swinging on 17th Sept followed by performance of Rajdeep Chatterjee on 18th Oct. Apart from these, there will be cultural programmes performed by the members of the Club, that have become a crowd puller to the festivities.

Bengali festivities are not complete without delicious food. Hence there will be multiple food stalls catering to mouth watering delicacies and specialities of cuisnes from Bengal. Bhog Prasad Lunch will be distributed to all visiting the pandal from the 16th – 18th Oct .

Powai Sharadotsav has been acknowledged for Excellent Management, Safety, Discpline and for encouraging National Integration by Mumbai Police. The puja has been awarded as “The most Exciting Puja/Navaratri Celebration in Powai and surrounding areas by Powai Police Station.

 The festival continues to be celebrated at: Powai Durga Puja Ground, Opposite Trans Ocean House, Lake Boulevard, Hiranandani Business Park, Powai. The dates this year is: 13th -19th Oct 2018.
