The book’s foreword was written by renowned actor Jayant Kripalani.

“I view life through the lens of poetry. I think what I possess is a feeling of wonder and curiosity that has persisted in me. Life experiences and repeated run-ins with the harsh truth of the world haven’t been able to eradicate this way of looking at things. I pay close attention to everything that goes on inside me and around me. My coping mechanisms, when faced with challenges, include humor and optimism. The poems in Barefoot On Splintered make an effort to capture these waves and, in some way, enable the reader to ride the same wave and, perhaps, feel a little less alone and more understood in a world that is changing quickly and becoming harder to make sense of” said Ms. Ananya Chatterjee.

“I love Kolkata and my mother was a huge Bengali culture enthusiast. I have understood over the years that Kolkata mesmerizes you with her charm. That is the beauty of the city” said Deepti Naval.

The actress said that when she met Ananya she felt that she had known her for so many years. “I was amused by her nature. It was as if this is her first book. I was surprised when she said this is her 6th book and she is still so nervous” added Deepti Naval.

Speaking about the poems, she said that the poet’s sensitivity can be understood through her poems. The fact that Ananya is very sensitive is evident in the poems.
