Director Aditya Datt after the last release Commando 3 is on cloud nine as the film has been getting a positive response from the audience. The Kolkata Mail correspondent Priyanka Dutta caught up with the talented director in an exclusive conversation. Excerpts…

Commando 3 has been getting good response from the audience. Did you think that the film will be getting such a good response when you were making the film?

Aditya Datt- One always makes films thinking it would do good and a certain bench mark. The response was over whelming. When you see the audience whistle and clap on the dialogue and moment that is gratifying.

How was the experience of shooting?

Aditya Datt- An out an out action film was exciting and really broadened my view as a director. It helped me improve my craft be it technically or as a narrator.

The films you directed earlier were not of such a huge budget. This was also part of a franchise too. So did that create extra pressure on you?

Aditya Datt- The budget for me is a simple need and requirement of the script written, so the numbers being big was not a concern for me. In fact it was the excitement of proving the 3rd franchise of Commando to be better than the earlier ones that drove me on. I wanted to leave a mark of my own as a director and technician.

What is the most challenging thing that a film maker has to face in today’s time?

Aditya Datt- Getting the right script!! If you get that, half the battle is won. The writing is the most important part for a director.

Are you planning to venture in the world of digital film making or web-series making?

Aditya Datt- I did the ZEE5 flag ship show on the biopic of Sunny Leone already. Going forward I love the web space. Will definitely do something soon!!

Table No 21, Aashiq Banaya Aapne to Commando 3-you have been making different kinds of films in different genres. What genre do you find the most interesting as a film maker?

Aditya Datt- Genre is not important to me but the story to be told is. It can be of any genre. But it has to give me an adrenal rush to go out there and tell it.

What are the works next in line for you?

Aditya Datt- I am genuinely currently taking a back seat and figuring what to do next. I am developing a few ideas. But don’t know what would actually go next.
