Russia as Theme Country at 44th International Kolkata Book Fair

Russia will be the focal theme country at the 44th International Kolkata Book Fair. A press meet was organized to announce this news in the august presence of Tridib Chatterjee, Milinda De, Sudhangshu Sekhar Dey, Alexey Idamkin, Hon’ble Consul General of Russia and others.

In 2019, 2.4 million visitors attended the book fair and 210 million INR direct sales from the fair happened.

Noted Russian authors will visit the book fair on the occasion. The presence of Russia at the book fair will help in strengthening the cultural bonds between the two countries.

Apart from Russia, UK, USA, Japan, Vietnam, France, Argentina, Mexico, Bangladesh, Australia will also participate in the book fair.

The 200th birth anniversary of Pandit Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar will be celebrated at the book fair.

Publishers from other states of India namely Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat and others also will be participating in the book fair.

The Book Fair will be inaugurated by Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee.

The 7th edition of Kolkata Literature Festival is from 6th to 8th February 2020 at Book Fair.

The book fair will begin from 29th January and conclude on 9th February.  The timing is from 12 pm to 8 pm. The venue is Central Park Mela Ground, Salt Lake.
