Sourav Ganguly Named Ambassador of Indian Team at The Street Child Cricket World Cup
Sourav Ganguly has been named as Ambassador of the Indian Team at the Street Child Cricket World Cup.
A press conference was organized to announce this and was attended by Sourav Ganguly, Chittapriyo Sadhu, State program Manager, West Bengal and Assam for Save the Children, Geeta Venkadakrishnan and others.
Sourav Ganguly shared interesting stories about his experiences of playing at Lords. He also wished the young children all the best for their matches at the world cup.
The Street Child Cricket World Cup 2019 will be held in May 2019 ahead of the ICC Cricket World Cup. This is the first Cricket World Cup for street connected children. India will be sending two teams to the tournament put together by Save the Children, The Hope Foundation, Magic Bus and Karunalaya.
Sourav Ganguly was asked about his views on Sachin Tendulkar’s comment of getting two points from Pakistan by beating them at the World Cup. The former cricketer said that he wanted his country to win the World Cup.
The tournament is organized by Street Child United (SCU), a UK based organization which has a history or organizing street child tournaments across major sporting festivals across the world.
The finals will be held at Lords.
The former skipper also played cricket with the kids at the event and encouraged them.
