Kaleidoscope Focused On Excellent Sustainable Fashion
The main focus of the JD Birla Institute graduating fashion show, which was co-hosted by the Indo-British Scholars’ Association (IBSA), was sustainable fashion. The Nicco Park, East Pavilion served as the venue for the sustainable fashion show.
The event ‘Kaleidoscope’ showcased six ensemble designs crafted by the graduating students of JDBI. These ensembles were Sunset Mosaic (beachwear adventure in patchwork from waste), Retrofitted Renaissance (A modern circular twist to tradition), Royal Threads (Reinterpreting the Rajputana through Benarasi craftsmanship), Biodiversity (Fashion extravaganza from sustainable new-age fibers), Bottled Swagger (Sustainable symphony of stylish jackets from RPET fabric), and Elements (Riches from waste).
The opening remarks at the event were given by Rajive Kaul, Chairman, of the Presidents Council, IBSA.
The Chief Guest of the event was Kiran Uttam Ghosh.
“I am delighted to be here in Kolkata to take part in the sustainable fashion show by students of JD Birla Institute and supported by Indo British Scholars’ Association. The program accentuates the Living Bridge pillar of UK alumni in India that unites our two countries while honoring the finest aspects of Indian and British education and culture” said Alison Barrett, MBE, Director, British Council India.
Using textiles and fabrics in novel ways is how the retail and fashion industries can effectively combat climate change. This fashion show was a step towards promoting sustainable fashion.
