Berger Paints India Ltd, India’s second-largest paint and coatings company, celebrates its century of operations in India by strategically relocating its headquarters to New Town, Kolkata’s business hub.
Hon’ble Cabinet Minister for Industries, Commerce & Enterprises and Department of Women and Child Development and Social Welfare of the Government of West Bengal, Dr. Shashi Panja along with the senior management of Berger Paints officially inaugurated the new headquarters in New Town.
The eight-story office building, resembling a paint can shape, covers approximately 190,000 square feet.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Abhijit Roy, MD & CEO, of Berger Paints India Limited said, “The company, based in Bengal, has been committed to the state’s socio-economic growth since its inception in 1923. Its new headquarters in New Town, Kolkata, reflects its focus on creating an agile, future-ready workspace. Despite relocations, the company remains embedded in Bengal’s socio-economic fabric. Two operational units, ICI India’s Rishra unit, and STP’s Singur unit, were strategically acquired and upgraded to state-of-the-art manufacturing hubs with advanced technologies. These acquisitions focus on responsible talent retention and workforce continuity”.
The Bengal-based company, the 7th largest architectural coatings company globally, has successfully penetrated global markets for over 100 years. They have been involved in prestigious projects in India, including the Indian Parliament House, Vande Bharat train, Kolkata Metro, and Wankhede Stadium. As the 2nd largest decorative paints company in India, they are expanding their retail presence, focusing on high-potential Southern and Western India. Their legacy includes painting the walls of the Indian Parliament House and other iconic infrastructure projects.

The building is a LEED-certified Platinum green building, powered by solar energy.

With a workforce of 4,000+ professionals and a strategic partnership with over 5 lakh painters, the company plans to inaugurate a state-of-the-art facility in Panagarh, West Bengal, and repurpose its heritage Howrah plant into a world-class innovation and R&D center.
