Premier Car World Pvt. Ltd., one of West Bengal’s leading Maruti Suzuki dealers, delivered 30 new yellow taxis to Kolkata as a heartfelt tribute to the city’s vibrant heritage, demonstrating a unique fusion of tradition and modernity.

For decades, Kolkata’s classic yellow Ambassador taxis represented more than just transportation; they embodied the city’s soul. Their vibrant colours, timeless design, and cinematic presence made them immortal in movies, postcards, and countless memories. However, due to legal, environmental, and economic changes, these iconic vehicles have gradually disappeared from the city’s landscape.

Determined to preserve this beloved symbol, Premier Car World Pvt. Ltd. collaborated with Maruti Suzuki India Limited to reimagine the beloved yellow taxi for a new generation. The newly launched fleet, based on the popular Maruti Suzuki WagonR, added a modern twist to the classic experience by providing improved fuel efficiency, advanced technology, and increased comfort, all while retaining the nostalgic charm.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Ramesh Chandra Agarwal, Managing Director of Premier Car World, said, “Our initiative was about combining tradition and transformation. We aim to deliver approximately 3,000 vehicles this fiscal year, with additional growth expected in the coming years. We aimed to revive the spirit of Kolkata’s iconic yellow taxis while introducing cutting-edge technologies that made rides safer, greener, and more convenient for both drivers and passengers”.

Actress Nusrat Jahan also graced the event.

The initiative also created new job opportunities for the city’s residents. Premier Car World Pvt. Ltd.’s addition of new taxis facilitated the creation of jobs for licensed taxi drivers, directly benefiting the local economy.
