A film that transformed the language of Bengali commercial cinema and made an iconic on-screen “juti” unforgettable 25 years ago is back today with a poster that recreates the magic!

In anticipation of its spectacular re-release in theatres on May 30, 2025, SVF unveiled the 25th Anniversary Poster for Sasurbari Zindabad.

Prosenjit Chatterjee and Rituparna Sengupta starred in the Haranath Chakraborty-directed film, which marked a turning point in Bengali cinema. Sasurbari Zindabad redefined mainstream Bengali storytelling at the turn of the millennium with its vivid images, emotionally charged story, and avant-garde treatment.

The movie also began one of Bengali cinema’s most recognisable on-screen duos. Because of their star power, chemistry, and widespread appeal, the Prosenjit-Rituparna “juti” (pair) became an immediate cultural sensation and shaped the industry for years to come. This very movie is where their magic started, so its re-release is not only sentimental but also highly symbolic.
