The first song from Metro…In Dino, Zamaana Lage teases a world of contemporary love and relationships that is as lively as it is recognisable. The full song, which serves as the opening track of the movie’s album, will be made available on May 28.

Metro…In Dino is the last installment of Anurag Basu‘s trilogy of hyperlinked films, which also includes Life in a… Metro and Ludo. With the support of producer Bhushan Kumar, the film reintroduces us to life in India’s urban centres through a vibrant, melodic storyline.

The enchanted partnership between composer Pritam and Anurag Basu, who are renowned for crafting hits that stay on the charts long after the credits have rolled, returns in Zamaana Lage. Arijit Singh and Shashwat Singh’s stirring vocals, which give the song emotional depth and a contemporary appeal, bring this soulful track to life. Zamaana Lage, which is based on the moving line Tumhaare sheher ka mausam bada suhana lage by Indian poet Qaisar Ul Jafri, transforms the classic ghazal form into a contemporary soundscape for a new generation of listeners. Sandeep Shrivastava added more lyrics, which enhanced the composition even more.

“With Qaisar Ul Jafri’s timeless poetry, we wanted to revive the ghazal as a form, not as nostalgia, but as something emotionally alive and relevant today, and bring it into the mainstream. We believed it didn’t always need to exist in a classical soundscape because of its rich history and timeless depth. A ghazal can retain its poetic essence while being pop—that is, contemporary in both sound and structure. We have attempted to reimagine the ghazal for the current generation with this song,” said music director Pritam Chakraborty.

“Zamaana Lage” is a poetic moment that spans generations and represents a rare pause in a world where speed and instant gratification are the norm.

Anupam Kher, Pankaj Tripathi, Konkona Sen Sharma, Aditya Roy Kapur, Sara Ali Khan, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Ali Fazal, Neena Gupta, and Saswata Chatterjee are among the remarkable cast members featured in the song teaser, which gives us our first glimpse of these intertwined characters and the emotional turmoil of contemporary love that unites them.
