Rs 150 Crore Allotted For Malabar Group’s Special CSR

The parent company of Malabar Gold & Diamonds, the Malabar Group, India’s largest business conglomerate, has set aside INR 150 crore for 2025–2026 to expand its corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs, which are centred on healthcare, education, reducing hunger and poverty, empowering women, protecting the environment, and providing housing for the underprivileged.
The Group has pledged to provide 70,000 meals per day to the impoverished in Zambia and India as part of its main CSR project, “The Hunger Free World,” for a total of 2.50 crore meals in 2025–2026. This shows a stronger commitment to the cause of food security for marginalised communities and marks a significant improvement over the 2.5 crore meals served over the previous three years. The program is in line with Sustainable Development Goal 2—Zero Hunger—of the UN.
At an event held at the Dr. Ambedkar International Centre, Janpath, New Delhi, on May 28, 2025, which also marks World Hunger Day, Dr. Amitabh Kant, former CEO of NITI Aayog & G-20 Sherpa, launched the next phase of the Group’s CSR programmes. Other dignitaries included Mr. M.P. Ahammed, Chairman of Malabar Group; Mr. KP Abdul Salam, Vice Chairman of Malabar Group; and Mr. O Asher, Managing Director of India Operations at Malabar Gold & Diamonds.

On May 28, 2025, the Malabar Group began the initiative in the East Region with the aim of serving 2704 meals daily. The mission was flagged off by the management team at their Kankurgachi showroom. Currently, 70,000 meal packets are distributed every day throughout Zambia and India by the Hunger Free World project. The project runs cutting-edge kitchens furnished with contemporary amenities and manned by skilled chefs and hygienic staff.
The Malabar Group has set up 716 micro-learning centres throughout India as part of its educational and social welfare program, giving street children access to primary education and nourishment. Nine thousand of the more than 32,000 children who have enrolled have already been integrated into formal schools. The Thanal and Malabar Group are working together on this project. Additionally, 1,14,000 girls have received scholarships to help pay for their education.
The Group has also started a program called Grandma Homes, which has resulted in the construction of shelters that provide impoverished women with free housing and care. At the moment, it operates in Hyderabad, Kerala, and Bengaluru. The initiative is being planned to be expanded to Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, and Kolkata.
The Group intends to open non-profit pharmacies with discounted prices in each of Kerala’s 140 locations. There are currently 27 such stores open throughout the state.
In addition, the Malabar Group has initiated the Uyirppu Project, which provides financial aid to 134 students for higher education, supporting children affected by the Wayanad landslip last year. Since the company’s founding, Malabar Gold and Diamonds has donated five percent of its profits to social welfare.
