A 7-year-old girl has overcome odds to defeat fatality after a gruesome road traffic accident. She was left battling for her life with many life-threatening injuries.

This tale was narrated at a press conference in Kolkata in the presence of eminent doctors.

She was taken to Narayana Hospital, Howrah, in severe shock. She had different issues like severe lung contusion, liver laceration, kidney and urethral injuries, pelvic fracture, and degloving injury on her right thigh. She needed huge blood transfusions and triple inotropic support.

Dr. Shubhadeep Das, Clinical Lead and Sr Consultant, Paediatric Critical Care, Dr. Gautam Chakraborty, Consultant- Paediatric and Neonatal Surgery, Dr. Atul Srivastava, Consultant- Orthopaedics and Joint Replacement Surgery, and Dr. Aditya Kanoi, Consultant- Plastic Surgery, did a conservative and focused treatment for the kid.

Her recovery was the result of the work of doctors, nurses, anaesthetists, physiotherapists, and wound care specialists. The young girl can now sit, and the doctors expect that she will be able to walk soon. Skin grafting and rehabilitation are still going on for the young girl.

This amazing case is a great example of the world-class health care facilities that exist in West Bengal.
