The poster launch of director Anilava Chatterjee’s film Bela took place in the presence of the director and Rituparna Sengupta. She plays the lead role of Bela Dey in the film.

The poster launch event took place at the house of Bela Dey in North Kolkata.

This is the first feature film of the director who had earlier done many short films. He is an ex-sports journalist, writer, director, and producer.

Bela Dey is an iconic figure, and she is a cooking genius. She gained much fame by writing cookbooks. Some of the books written by her include Ranna Obidhan, Rannar Omnibash, Heshel, Bangalir Rannaghar, Nonta Mishti Jolkhabar, and many more.

She was a good cook herself. She also had a great relationship with Leela Majumdar.

Bela Dey also did a program on Akashvani. The name of the program was Mohila Mahal and which gained much popularity during that time.

Rituparna Sengupta said, “Bela Dey is a relevant character. Even in those days, she was ahead of her time. Women in those days could not even think of becoming financially independent. Nor could they think that they would be able to live their own lives independently. Through her books on cooking, she spread her culinary knowledge. Her program, Mohila Mahal, also showed that women could be financially independent and carve a career of their own. She remains an inspiration for all of us”.
