The HR Leadership Summit 2025 was successfully held at the Taj Taal Kutir in Kolkata by BIBS and the NHRDN Kolkata Chapter against the backdrop of AI transforming the workplace and hybrid models changing organizational dynamics. To provide a path for HR leadership in a business environment that is changing quickly, the summit gathered together some of the most well-known HR leaders, practitioners, and thought leaders in the nation. Shri Snehasis Chakraborty, the Hon’ble Cabinet Minister for Transport, Government of West Bengal, graced the event, lending the occasion even more significance.

Mr. Prabir Jha, Founder & CEO of Prabir Jha People Advisory, gave a thought-provoking keynote talk on “HR Space Beyond Tomorrow” to kick off the event. He emphasized the need for a comprehensive rethinking of HR’s function, moving beyond transactional assistance to become a strategic engine of innovation, agility, and a people-first culture in light of AI, automation, and digital-first workplaces.

The first panel, Mastering People Leadership in a Hybrid World, explored how leadership techniques are being redefined by hybrid work arrangements. Panellists Mr. George Thomas (CHRO – MISP Steel), Ms. Kassiopea Chaudhuri (Associate Director HR – IBM), Ms. Rashmita Parija (Head HR – Lexmark), Mr. Subrata Chatterjee (CHRO – AECOMTITAL Design & Engineering Centre), and Ms. Sudarsana Sanyal (Head HR & Admin – CESC) highlighted the need for empathy, flexibility, and effective communication in motivating dispersed and diverse teams. The discussion was moderated by Ms. Vineeta Mehta (Head HR – Rollicks Ice Cream).

The second panel, Future Ready or Left Behind: The Urgency of Upskilling in the Age of AI centered on the pressing need for companies to upskill and reskill employees to stay competitive in an AI-powered world. Speakers Ms. Megha Chhabra (GM & Global HR Head – Cyber Security & Risk Services, Wipro), Ms. Prapti Lodh Roy (Managing Director Human Capital – PwC India), and Mr. Suman Banerjee (CHRO – ABP Pvt. Ltd.) talked about how businesses that make investments in digital literacy and ongoing learning would prosper while others run the risk of falling behind. The session was moderated by Ms. Sagorika Sanyal (VP – Talent Management, Apseconnect).

Mr. Vidur Kapoor, Chairman – BIBS, said, “Our ongoing goal at BIBS is to make sure that management education is relevant to real-world issues rather than being limited to classroom settings. This idea is reflected in the HR Leadership Summit, which brings together leading HR executives to discuss AI, hybrid models, and future-ready leadership. By doing so, we are equipping our students and industry stakeholders to succeed in workplaces that are changing more quickly than ever before”.

One theme emerged from the summit: technology and human-centered leadership are key to the future of human resources. HR directors must act as change agents and create workforces that are emotionally and technologically resilient as AI continues to revolutionize roles and hybrid models threaten established frameworks.

In addition to providing a forum for cooperation and information exchange, the HR Leadership Summit 2025’s networking session reaffirmed the summit’s main takeaway, which is that HR leadership needs to not only keep up with change but also stay ahead of it.
