Éloïse Bistro & Boulangerie Now Blends Bakery With A European Cafe

Nestled in a cozy neighborhood in South Kolkata, Éloïse Bistro & Boulangerie is a café with a Parisian flair that combines the elegance of European bistro culture with the beauty of an artisanal French bakery. Éloïse, which was thoughtfully designed to combine the refinement of a classic pâtisserie with the coziness of a neighborhood café, serves handcrafted breads, delectable sweets, specialty coffee, and comfort food with a cosmopolitan flair in a setting of gracious hospitality and timeless charm. The 48-seater cafe, which is about 2,000 square feet in size, is a great place to enjoy leisurely brunches, peaceful afternoon chats, or exclusive evening dinners.
Even the name Éloïse conjures images of Paris, style, craftsmanship, and effortless beauty. It symbolizes a woman who embodies the brand’s essence in every way: elegant yet approachable, sophisticated yet kind. “Bistro & Boulangerie” encapsulates the space’s dual character as a bakery producing artisanal breads and desserts and a European café offering contemporary bistro meals. Éloïse, which was founded by Anwesha Bhattacharjee and Rohit Chowdhury, was inspired by the European café culture, where evenings are spent lingering over a cup of coffee and conversation, and mornings are greeted by the aroma of freshly made breads.

The décor of the café, which is tucked away in a charming South Kolkata street, combines modern European minimalism with historical Parisian charm. It includes warm golden lighting, French mouldings, brass accents, vintage mirrors, and soft pastels. Anwesha and Rohit, who had worked in restaurants for years, had an idea for a place that would be cozy, elegant, and classic—a sensory experience of European warmth, design, and flavors. With its exquisite yet inviting design and stories around every corner, the room feels like a postcard from Paris.
Under the direction of Executive Chef Sharafat Hussain, whose three-decade culinary experience includes work for international cruise lines and upscale hotels, Éloïse’s food perfectly balances elegance and genuineness.

The all-day bistro menu features Continental, French, and Modern European dishes along with global favourites. On offer are dishes like Truffle and Parmesan Sweet Potato Fries, Éloïse Vol au Vent to Chicken Schnitzel, Niçoise Salad, Gnocchi in Truffle Butter, Crème D’Or, Crème D’Lune, Dark Chocolate Hot, and more.
At its center is the in-house Éloïse Boulangerie, which serves an enticing assortment of tea cakes, croissants, brioches, and sourdoughs made fresh every morning with only the finest butter and flour, and no preservatives. The bakery also creates delicious giving experiences and custom festive hampers that reflect Éloïse’s philosophy of subtle elegance.
Éloïse is well-positioned to grow and intends to establish a chain of upscale cafés and boulangeries throughout India, starting with Salt Lake City, Kolkata, and subsequently expanding to Delhi and Mumbai. Additionally, an online gourmet bakery is being developed for delivery throughout India.
