Amitabha Chaterji’s New Film “8” Screened At The 31st KIFF

8, a film by director Amitabha Chaterji, was screened as part of the Bengali Panorama at the 31st Kolkata International Film Festival.
The press conference for the film was attended by the director, cast, and crew.
Amitabha Chaterji’s earlier films include Ami O Manohar (2018), Into The Mist (2022), and Adim (2024).
The story spans eight years. It shows intimate moments and distance, where time moves fluidly between imagination and memory.
The film has also been produced by Amitabha Chaterji. The cinematography, editing, and music have also been done by Mr. Chaterji.
Speaking about the film, the director said, “Kolkata has a great magic. Anyone with even a small camera can capture in this city and make a film. I made the film using my iPhone”.
He added that the film shows his eight-year journey as an independent filmmaker and also his breakup with his three girlfriends over the period of eight years.
Amitabha further said that when he was making the film, he did not think of any commercial aspect.
The cast of the film consists of Suraiya Pravin and Jagannath Chakraborty.
The film is 79 minutes long.
