Special Screening Of Aranyer Din Ratri After Restoration

Aranyer Din Ratri was screened for the first time in India after its restoration. It has been restored in 4K format.
The special screening took place at the popular Priya Cinema in Kolkata.

Before the special screening, a panel discussion was organized. It was graced by director Sujoy Ghosh, Ranjan Bandyopadhyay, Ashok Viswanathan, and many other guests.
Present at the special screening were eminent guests like Saswata Chatterjee, Churni Ganguly, Srikant Mohta, Indraadip Dasgupta, and others.

Sujoy Ghosh said, “I was very young when I first saw the film. What attracted me the most was the friendship shown in the film. The women characters in the film also attracted me. That stayed with me. Most of my films have strong female characters. It was embedded in me after I watched Aranyer Din Ratri. I understood the power of women after watching the film. Whenever you watch the film, you uncover something new about the film. Memory game was a game for me when I first saw the film. You realize it is something more when you watch the film again. I learned a lot from this film, and it inspired me a lot”.

According to Sujoy Ghosh, Aranyer Din Ratri and Joy Baba Felunath have the best opening credits.
Restoring legendary films is always a good idea. And with this initiative, more such films will survive to tell a tale of their own.
