Who Is The Winner Of The Special M P Birla Memorial Award?

The MP Birta Institute of Fundamental Research announced that Prof. Yashwant Gupta, Distinguished Professor and Centre Director, National Centre for Radio Astrophysics, Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Pune, has been selected as the recipient of the biennial M P Birta Memorial Award for 2025.
The renowned award celebrates Prof Gupta’s exceptional achievements and major impact on the field of Astronomy and Astrophysics, notably the pioneering work in Radio Astronomy.
This announcement was made by Mr. S.K. Daga, Honorary Secretary of the MP Birla Institute of Fundamental Research, and Mr. S. Datta, Curator of the M P Birla Planetarium.
The MP Birta Memorial Award, founded in 1993 to celebrate the memory of late Shri MP Biata, the founder of the MP Birta Planetarium, is one of the most regarded awards in the scientific world, specifically in Astronomy, Astrophysics, Space Sciences, and allied subjects.
Some of the past recipients of the award were Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam, Prof. Ashoke Sen, Prof. R. Cowsik, Prof. P. C. Agarwal, Prof. Govind Swarup, and many more.
The award selection committee praised Prof. Gupta’s outstanding research and achievements.
Prof. Gupta, who has been a leader in the profession for several decades now, expressed gratitude for the award while offering his assent to receive it.
