The Mobile Vision Van outreach program, which is in line with the Institute’s long-standing Sight4All mission, seeks to close significant gaps in the accessibility of eye care by providing economically and geographically disadvantaged populations with free, on-the-spot vision screening, advanced diagnostics, and eye-health awareness. The program demonstrates Sankara Jyoti Eye Institute’s dedication to reducing preventable blindness by means of early detection and prompt treatment.

The Mobile Vision Van, which was developed by Sankara Jyoti Eye Institute and supported by the Cognizant Foundation, started out at Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) Urban Primary Health Centres (UPHCs) and is currently spreading throughout Primary Health Centres in the Basirhat Health District. In order to provide high-quality tertiary eye care services to people who most need them, specially trained medical teams are traveling from village to village.

The van is equipped with state-of-the-art diagnostic technology, including a Retinal Imaging Machine, Non-Contact Tonometer, and Digital Auto-Refractometer. Early diagnosis of glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, and other retinal problems by rapid, painless, and precise examinations is a major focus of the program.

Sankara Jyoti Eye Institute continues its aim to provide accessible, affordable, and community-centric eye-care services, firmly promoting the vision of Sight4All, thanks to an enormous response from beneficiaries and strong community support.
