The St. Xavier’s College (Calcutta) Alumni Association (SXCCAA), in partnership with the Department of Health & Family Welfare, Government of West Bengal, successfully organized the Mega Health & Eye Check-Up Camp 2026 at the Raghabpur Campus of St. Xavier’s College (Autonomous), Kolkata, reaffirming the Xaverian spirit of service and the guiding motto “Nihil Ultra” (Nothing Beyond).

More than 1,100 people from Raghabpur and the nearby villages of Bakeswar, Magurkhali, Shalpukur, Debipur, Gosthomath, and Paikhala benefited from the camp. To close significant healthcare gaps in these underprivileged rural towns, beneficiaries got free medical consultations and diagnostic services in the fields of dentistry, general medicine, pediatrics, ENT, and eye care.

The programme was inaugurated by Dominic Savio, SJ, Principal of St. Xavier’s College (Autonomous), Kolkata, and President of SXCCAA, Dilip Mondal, Hon’ble Minister of State for Transport, Government of West Bengal, and MLA, Bishnupur (South 24 Parganas). Senior government officials, medical professionals, faculty members, student volunteers, and alumni members also graced the event.

Rev. Dr. Dominic Savio, SJ, stated that “True education finds its fulfillment in service to humanity. We reaffirm our dedication to compassion, decency, and inclusive growth for those who most need care through programs like this health camp”.

The Mega Health & Eye Check-Up Camp, now in its 12th edition, has grown to be SXCCAA’s main outreach program, continuously filling the gaps in rural healthcare by providing free diagnostics, medications, referrals, follow-up care, and, when necessary, corrective eye procedures.

Charnock Hospitals, Ratsa Diagnostics, The HEKA Foundation, and the Institute of Neurosciences, Kolkata, were among the healthcare partners that strongly supported the program. It was further reinforced by its alignment with the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan.

The camp demonstrated the power of alumni, academic institutions, government agencies, and healthcare organizations together to produce long-lasting grassroots effects.
