As part of the complex’s week-long festive programming, Offbeat CCU on the Eastern Metropolitan Bypass came alive with color, music, and rain on the morning of March 4, 2026, when over 120 guests gathered for Rain Dance 4.0, a lively Holi celebration.

What started as a late-morning get-together quickly evolved into a vibrant carnival.

A diverse group of college students, young professionals, and families gradually filled the courtyard, dressed in pastels and whites and eager to embrace the festival’s lighthearted vibe. The open area became a whirling canvas of pinks, yellows, greens, and oranges as gulal bursts streaked through the air in a matter of minutes.

The rain rigs, which sent down shimmering water curtains that swiftly drew people onto the dance floor, were the focal point of the festivities. The audience reacted with unbridled enthusiasm as the DJ set played a lively mix of modern dance songs and Bollywood favorites.

Frequently preceded by exuberant countdowns that resulted in clouds of powdered color swirling above the dancing crowd, color throws punctuated the music at regular intervals.

An ambiance that embodied the spirit of Holi—spontaneous, communal, and unrestrained—was created by the interaction of music, rain, and color. The Offbeat CCU courtyard momentarily became a festival ground as strangers danced together under the falling water, their laughter blending with the music.

A culinary homage to the seasonal flavors complemented the festivities. The Biryani Canteen, one of the eateries in the Offbeat CCU complex, provided free biryani to the guests. While glasses of chilled thandai, the traditional Holi beverage, circulated among the celebrants, the aromatic plates of biryani provided a welcome break from the dancing.

The Offbeat CCU building, with its glass façade reflecting the bursts of color rising from the courtyard below, provided a striking backdrop for the celebration throughout the afternoon. The event highlighted the complex’s reputation as a lifestyle and community center along the Eastern Metropolitan Bypass, where dining, hospitality, and cultural events come together.

By early afternoon, the courtyard had the happy remnants of a well-attended festival: colorful pavements, soaked attendees, and a crowd gradually dispersing with photos and laughter.

Holi arrived as a joyful downpour of color, music, and shared celebration for those who danced under the rain that morning—a reminder that Kolkata’s festival of colors continues to find fresh and colorful expressions.
