A Great Birth Anniversary Tribute To Prof. (Dr.) Amiya Chakravarty

In honor of Prof. (Dr.) On the occasion of Amiya Chakravarty’s 125th birthday, the Asiatic Society held a special program titled “Remembering Prof. (Dr.) Amiya Chakravarty (1901–1986)” on the Society’s premises.
The Administrator, Lt. Col. Anant Sinha, gave a welcome speech to kick off the program, highlighting Prof. Amiya Chakravarty’s lasting literary and intellectual contributions to Bengali literature and contemporary Indian thought.

Dr. Ritam Mukherjee gave the introduction to Mara-jibaner markatmani. Amiya Chakravarty’s literary, philosophical, and humanistic legacy was later discussed in lectures by eminent academics and scholars.
The speakers included Prof. Sumita Chakrabarti, who spoke on “Kalbelar Kabi Amiya Chakravarty”; Prof. Tarun Mukhopadhyay, who delivered a lecture on “Tirisher Kabi Amiya: Charcha o Charya”; Prof. Sumita Bhattacharyya, who discussed “Amiya Chakravarty: Biswamanabatabodh O Antarjatikatabad”; Dr. Mostak Ahamed, who spoke on “Amar Amiya: Darshane-Biggane-Chetanay”; and Dr. Devarati Jana, who delivered a lecture on “Amiya Chakravarty-r Rachanasoili”.

Dr. Ritam Mukherjee, the coordinator, delivered closing remarks to wrap up the program, followed by a formal vote of thanks.
Members, scholars, and literature lovers attended the event, which reaffirmed the continued significance of Prof. Amiya Chakravarty’s contributions to global humanism, comparative thought, and Bengali literature.
