The historic House of Lords in the British Parliament hosted the third edition of the Bengal British Icon Awards, which were organized by Candid Communication UK and hosted by Baroness Uddin. The event honored outstanding people and organizations whose accomplishments have had a long-lasting influence in a variety of fields of excellence.
Policymakers, business executives, entrepreneurs, academicians, philanthropists, and changemakers from the UK, India, Bangladesh, and other countries came together for the ceremony, which was held at the famous Cholmondeley Room and Terrace.
The event was graced by distinguished dignitaries, including The Rt Hon Baroness Uddin, The Rt Hon Baroness Winterton of Doncaster DBE, Former MP Virendra Sharma, Mr Atique Choudhury, Mrs Khaleda Choudhury, Ms Hasina Khan, and Ms Shila Rashid.
The awards ceremony was hosted by acclaimed broadcaster, actor, and former BBC and Sky News presenter Sarah Lockett.
Acknowledged as a distinguished venue honoring excellence throughout the South Asian diaspora worldwide, with a particular focus on Bengal’s common cultural legacy, the Bengal British Icon Awards recognized a remarkable group of leaders, visionaries, and innovators whose contributions continue to influence industries, uplift communities, and motivate future generations.
This year’s honourees included Sakuntala Sanyal, CEO and Executive Director of SBI UK; Jaya Mishra, renowned Fashion Designer; Soma Chakraborty, Co-Founder and Managing Director of Goodace Hospital and President of Gouris Foundation; Subrina Hossain, CEO and Director of NTV Europe; Prof. Dr. Parvez Iqbal Haris, Emeritus Professor of Biomedical Science at De Montfort University, UK; Dr. Syed Ragib Ali, Educationist, Philanthropist and Entrepreneur; Tapan Roy, Founder of ATN Bangla Television and Media Entrepreneur; Dr. M.P. Rozario, Principal of St. Sebastian’s School, Kolkata; Satya Prakash Sangwan, Vice-President of the Paralympic Committee of India; Rajiv Sabharwal, Chairman of Real Impact Pvt. The awarding of a special posthumous honor to Late Dabirul Islam Choudhury OBE in honor of his extraordinary legacy of philanthropy, humanitarian service, and unwavering commitment to community welfare was one of the afternoon’s most moving moments. Generations after generation have found inspiration in his life and work.
Award recipients had a unique chance to witness the rich democratic legacy and architectural magnificence of one of the most famous institutions in the world, the Palace of Westminster, during an exclusive guided tour of the British Parliament that concluded the festivities.
