Affordable & High-Quality Renal Care Now For Impoverished Patients

The Sampa Bose Memorial Charitable Renal Care & Research Centre, a dedicated charitable kidney care facility close to Science City, Kolkata, was inaugurated by the Kidney Care Society. This is a major step toward increasing impoverished patients’ access to high-quality, reasonably priced renal healthcare throughout West Bengal.
The centre was founded by renowned industrialist and philanthropist Mr. Swapan Sadhan “Tutu” Bose, who generously donated the six-storey Pratidin Media building in honor of his late wife, Mrs. Sampa Bose, whose valiant fight with chronic kidney disease served as the inspiration for this establishment.

The centre’s goal is to guarantee that no patient’s financial situation prevents them from receiving life-saving kidney treatment.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Smt. Locket Chatterjee, General Secretary of BJP WB; Swami Sparshananda Ji Maharaj, Ramakrishna Mission; Sri. Sabyasachi Chakrabarty, Actor; Smt. Mithu Chakraborty, Actress; Dr. Pradip Mitra, Ex Director of Medical Education, Govt. of WB; Sri. Tamoghna Ghosh, District President of the BJP, North Kolkata; Sri. Srinjoy Bose, Industrialist & trustee of the trust; Mr. Shoumik Bose, Industrialist & trustee of the trust; Dr. Pratim Sengupta, Eminent Nephrologist & Transplant Physician, MD & CEO, Nephro Care India Ltd., President, The Kidney Care Society; Sri. Debashis Dutta, President of Mohun Bagan Club, and others.
The new facility aims to close a significant gap in accessible renal care by providing advanced dialysis, diagnostics, critical care, and all-encompassing patient support under one roof, as chronic kidney disease is becoming one of India’s fastest-growing health issues. The facility is a reflection of The Kidney Care Society’s long-standing goal of Good Renal Health for All and its dedication to ensuring that everyone in society has access to high-quality kidney care.

Dr. Pratim Sengupta, President, The Kidney Care Society, said, “We are starting a movement toward equitable kidney care, and not just opening a hospital. This center, which is compassionate and purpose-driven, embodies our steadfast belief that all patients, regardless of their financial situation, should be treated with dignity, receive high-quality care, and have hope”.
Sri. Srinjoy Bose, Industrialist, said, “A revolutionary journey in accessible kidney care has begun with the opening of the Sampa Bose Memorial Charitable Renal Care & Research Centre. With the opening of its 18-bed Advanced Day Care Dialysis Unit, which is backed by critical care facilities, diagnostics, a pharmacy, and a committed team of specialists, those who most need it will receive high-quality care with dignity. The centre will leave a lasting legacy of kindness, creativity, and hope for innumerable families throughout West Bengal and beyond as it grows into a 50-bed charitable renal hospital with a top-notch research lab and integrated wellness amenities”.

With the opening of this centre, access to high-quality renal care will be available to underprivileged patients.
