Sunny Deol went to Netaji Bhawan after reaching Kolkata. He had a closer look at the memories and historical significance connected to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose during his visit. When the director was asked why he made the film, Rajkumar Santoshi said, “When I made Ghayal, Ghatak, or Damini, I did not know they would become such great hits. I just wanted to make films that would not have repetitive plots. When I decided to work on this project, I was looking for a producer who would have the same level of belief as me for this project. And Aamir Khan came on board because he believed in the story of this film”.

Speaking at the press conference, Sunny Deol said “It is an important film and one that needs to be told for the younger generations. They must know about what happened during the partition and how it affected the lives of the people”.

On working with his son, Karan Deol, the actor said that it was always a pleasure to work with his son. Both of them are actors, and it was a great experience for him.

Shabana Azmi, Sunny Deol, Preity Zinta, Karan Deol, Ali Fazal, and Abhimanyu Singh play important roles in the movie. The reunion of Sunny Deol and Rajkumar Santoshi on the big screen after almost 30 years is a major highlight.

The music has been composed by A. R. Rahman, while Javed Akhtar has penned the songs. Aamir Khan and Aparna Purohit produced the film.
