A Free Breast Cancer Screening Program By Medella Karkinos

By hosting a free breast cancer screening program and an awareness session on its hospital grounds as part of the “Pinktober-Awareness Saves Lives” project, Medella Karkinos Oncology Institute joined the global drive for breast cancer awareness. A crucial theme is emphasized throughout the month-long campaign: Breast Cancer Awareness & Early Detection Saves Lives.
Over a hundred individuals from diverse backgrounds participated in the awareness campaign and attended the screening camp. To lessen the burden of cancer, the screening program sought to increase public knowledge of preventative measures, the value of early detection, and the necessity of prompt treatment. Additionally, it urged women to get screened for cancer regularly because early detection is essential for better treatment results and survival rates.
Dr. Akther Jawade, Director East, Karkinos Healthcare, said, “One of the most prevalent malignancies afflicting women today is breast cancer, but the good news is that it is very treatable if caught early. Patients’ quality of life and survival rates have significantly improved thanks to advances in medical research. In the battle against breast cancer, early detection is essential. Many instances can be successfully controlled with prompt therapy if diagnosed at the appropriate stage. Our greatest means of saving lives are awareness and routine screening. Breast self-examination and routine screening should be a top priority for every woman”.
Dr. Akther Jawade added, “Our hospital continues to reach out to communities throughout West Bengal through programs like free cancer screening programs, raising awareness of early cancer detection, and easily accessible cancer care. The hospital’s cutting-edge equipment, sophisticated testing facilities, and skilled oncologists guarantee patients receive thorough care. We are still dedicated to ensuring that everyone has access to high-quality cancer care, and we will keep spearheading programs that provide people with information and promote preventative health behaviours”.
In addition to hospital-based programs, Medella Karkinos Oncology Institute has been actively holding cancer screening camps and awareness campaigns in rural and semi-urban areas of North 24 Parganas, Hooghly, Nadia, and surrounding districts. Many patients have been able to start treatment early because of to prompt discovery made possible by these camps, which has improved recovery and survival.
