Pokkhirajer Dim, the upcoming science-fantasy film directed by Soukarya Ghosal, was celebrated in a special showcase event hosted by Jio Studios and SVF Entertainment, following the digital release of its trailer and title track.

The event was graced by director Soukarya Ghosal, actors Mahabrata Basu, Anumegha Banerjee, Anirban Bhattacharya, music composer Nabarun Bose, and others.

Pokkhirajer Dim, which is set in the fictional village of Akashgunj, is about a schoolboy named Ghoton (Mahabrata Basu), who, in his haste to pass a significant retest, discovers a legendary stone hidden inside an ancient, deserted temple. He quickly learns of the stone’s extraordinary ability to reveal suppressed emotions with the aid of his loyal friend Poppins (played by Anumegha Banerjee) and his eccentric science teacher, Batabyal Sir (played by Anirban Bhattacharya). However, as foreign archaeologists start to close in and threaten to reveal and take advantage of the relic’s secret, what begins as an intriguing academic endeavor swiftly transforms into a high-stakes adventure.

Nabarun Bose said, “We worked very happily in the film. There is a positive energy in the film. Rainbow Jelly was my first work as a music director, and it was special. Pokkhirajer Dim is a direct sequel of Rainbow Jelly, and yes, I was becoming nostalgic while working on the film. Like in Rainbow Jelly, for this film also, we have used household items for composing the music”.

Director Soukarya Ghosal said, “This is a science fantasy film. Not many films are made in this genre in Bengal. Ghoton and Poppins return yet again with Anirban. This is a film that will be loved by the kids and the adults alike. This is a universal film. Pokkhirajer Dim is about the seven colors, while Rainbow Jelly is about the seven flavors. This Dim is a thing that can help detect the emotions of humans. Hence, it is special”.

Anumegha said, “Science and fantasy mix in this film. When I heard the story, I was amazed at how one can blend the two genres. I like Physics, and the film has many elements of Physics. As a result, I did not miss my studies even while shooting. I was very small when I shot for Rainbow Jelly. But now that I am a bit mature, I understand acting better. I had a great time acting in this film. Anirban da was very friendly, and it was fun to shoot with him”.

Mahabrata Basu said that his friends and relatives were looking forward to watching the film on the big screen.

The film’s title track has been written by Soukarya himself, and the music is by Nabarun Bose. The song is sung by Anirban Bhattacharya.

The actor said, “I love working with new directors and actors. And this film gave me such a great opportunity. We shot the film during high heat and humidity in 2023. But we had great fun during the shoot of the film. The process we had to go through before the shoot was a great experience. I come from a theatre background and this process was helpful for me”.

Pokkhirajer Dim will be released in theatres on 13th June 2025.
