A Special Walkathon To Celebrate Patients’ Experience Week

In honor of Patients’ Experience Week 2025, the Calcutta Medical Research Institute (CMRI), a division of CK Birla Hospitals, held a unique Walkathon. The occasion honored the remarkable relationship that exists between patients, physicians, nurses, and hospital employees; this relationship transcends medical care and is characterized by compassion, trust, and hope.
Mr. Sombrata Roy, Unit Head, CK Birla Hospitals – CMRI, Kolkata, organized the walkathon, which was attended by a number of West Bengal government dignitaries. The program’s goal was to unite the whole CMRI family, including caregivers, medical experts, and those who have fought and overcome life-threatening illnesses.
Many past patients who had once faced life-threatening conditions and had given up on survival joined the Walkathon, walking hand in hand with their doctors and caretakers, giving the event a very emotional touch. Their presence served as a potent metaphor for the tenacity of people, the superiority of medicine, and the unwavering spirit of healing that CMRI represents.
Mr. Sombrata Roy, Unit Head, CK Birla Hospitals – CMRI, Kolkata, said, “The remarkable healing journey that brings patients, caregivers, and healthcare teams together is honored during Patients’ Experience Week. We are honoring that connection, which is beyond the hospital’s boundaries, with our Walkathon. The best evidence of the strength of hope and compassionate care is to see our former patients strolling side by side with their physicians”.
Hundreds of individuals, including recovered patients, medical experts, and well-wishers, enthusiastically participated in the event, which began early in the morning on the CMRI campus. They all walked together to honor life and the healing process. The Walkathon served as a reminder of CMRI’s dedication to compassionate clinical excellence, where each recovery is not only a medical triumph but also a tale of bravery and compassion.
