A minimally invasive robotic right ureterolithotomy was completed at Narayana Hospital RN Tagore Hospital, Mukundupur, under the direction of Dr. Venkata Boppana B, Consultant in Urology and Uro-Oncology, and his committed team. A 2.5 cm stone was found in the right upper ureter of a 38-year-old man named Mr. Barun Das (patient name changed), who underwent surgery.

After experiencing severe symptoms associated with the large stone, the patient—who had a history of hypertension—was sent to the hospital. Advanced diagnostic procedures, such as a CT Urogram and DTPA Renogram, were carried out when the patient arrived at the hospital’s outpatient department. The process was made more difficult when it was soon discovered that the stone was too big to pass naturally and had created adhesions. Because of the intricacy, robotic-assisted surgery was chosen to guarantee accuracy and reduce risks.

Using cutting-edge robotic technology, Dr. Boppana and his team expertly removed the stone during the right ureterolithotomy. Smaller incisions, less blood loss, and a quicker recovery were guaranteed by the minimally invasive technique. During the procedure, a Double J Stent (DJS) was also inserted to guarantee appropriate urine flow and promote healing.

The patient was mobilized just 12 hours after the procedure, which took less than 90 minutes to complete. The patient was discharged less than 24 hours after the drain was removed on the first postoperative day, demonstrating how well robotic-assisted surgery works to promote a quicker recovery. On the third postoperative day, a follow-up verified that the patient was recovering without any issues.

With robotic-assisted surgeries emerging as a crucial tool in the treatment of complex conditions, the procedure reflects the continuous advancements in medical technology. In addition to improving surgical results, these cutting-edge methods are opening the door for patients in a variety of medical specialties to receive less disruptive and more effective treatment options.

This case demonstrates the main benefits of robotic-assisted surgery, such as increased accuracy, fewer complications, and quicker patient recovery. This procedure’s successful outcome, which shows the efficacy of minimally invasive techniques in urological care, was made possible by the use of advanced technology.
