Airtel Continues Its Fight Against Spam With New Features

Airtel announced the introduction of two major improvements aimed at staying ahead of spammers, following the launch of its AI-powered spam detection tool that identified over 27.5 billion calls as SPAM to its customers.
In their preferred Indian languages, customers will now receive SPAM alerts for calls and SMS messages. With intentions to add more in the future, this new feature will be accessible in ten vernacular languages. Customers will now be screened and alerted to all SPAM calls and SMSes coming from international networks by Airtel’s AI-powered tool.
Scammers and spammers turned to using international networks to send fraudulent calls into India after Airtel stepped up its efforts to stop domestic spam calls. Over the past six months, the number of overseas spam calls has increased by 12% as a result of this concerning trend. Airtel anticipates that its new feature will eliminate this escalating problem.
Users will now receive notifications in ten Indian languages—Bengali, Hindi, Marathi, Gujarati, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, Telugu, Punjabi, and Urdu—about calls and messages from both domestic and international numbers, thanks to the updated AI-driven SPAM solution. Customers with Android devices can receive SPAM alert notifications in vernacular languages. All of these services are still free for users and will be automatically activated for all Airtel users without requiring them to submit a service request.
Launched in September 2024, Airtel’s ground-breaking, first-of-its-kind anti-SPAM tool has revolutionised the way its customers deal with unsolicited communications.
