Airtel Launches Its Special Fraud Detection Solution

Airtel announced a new state-of-the-art solution that will identify and block malicious websites in real time across all communication Over-The-Top (OTT) apps and platforms, including emails, browsers, and OTTs like WhatsApp, Telegram, Facebook, Instagram, SMSes, and others, as part of its ongoing battle against spam. All Airtel broadband and mobile customers will be automatically enrolled in this secure service, which will be seamlessly integrated and free of charge. Customers are redirected to a page outlining the reason for the block when they attempt to access a website that Airtel’s sophisticated security system has identified as malicious.
Because digital platforms are becoming more and more commonplace nationwide, the threat of online fraud is increasing daily and presents a significant risk to consumers. These threats have alarmingly increased in recent days. The scope of fraudulent schemes has expanded significantly beyond deceptive calls and OTP frauds; according to recent reports, millions of people have been the victims of malevolent online scams. Given the seriousness of the situation, Airtel has put in place a multi-tiered intelligence platform driven by AI to protect users from all types of fraud and scams. It plans to accomplish this by launching a cutting-edge threat detection platform that will block the link between devices and perform domain filtering across all platforms.
Gopal Vittal, Vice Chairman and Managing Director, Bharti Airtel, said, “We have seen numerous cases in recent years where unsuspecting consumers have had their hard-earned money stolen by cunning criminals. Our engineers have launched our Fraud Detection Solution in an attempt to address this issue. We think this will give our customers complete peace of mind so they can browse the internet without worrying about falling victim to scams. Our AI-powered tool blocks fraudulent websites, scans internet traffic, and instantly compares it with global repositories and our database of threat actors. After six months of testing, our solution has already achieved an impressive level of accuracy. Until our networks are safe from spam and scams, we will keep up our relentless efforts”.
The service is now offered in the Haryana Circle, and a national rollout is soon to follow.
