An informative session called “A Handful of Almonds a Day: Natural Approach to Supporting Health in Today’s Fast-Paced Lifestyle” was held at The Lalit in Kolkata by the Almond Board of California. Prominent panelists, such as Dr. Rohini Patil, MBBS, and well-known Bengali actress Susmita Chatterjee, highlighted the need to make thoughtful food choices and eat a balanced diet during the event. They also emphasized how, in the fast-paced world of today, including almonds in one’s diet can promote general health and wellness. RJ Shelee moderated the session.
A balanced, healthy lifestyle has grown more challenging to achieve in today’s fast-paced world, which has resulted in an increase in lifestyle diseases including diabetes, heart disease, and obesity.
The seasoned nutritionist stressed during the conversation how crucial it is to keep a balanced diet and include natural foods like almonds for optimum health. She emphasized that California almonds are high in 15 vital nutrients and provide a host of health advantages, including lowered levels of LDL and total cholesterol, blood sugar regulation, and weight management. Also included in the conversation were the ICMR-National Institute of Nutrition’s (ICMR-NIN) Dietary Guidelines for Indians, which advise consuming nuts like almonds as a significant source of plant protein in a balanced diet in addition to being a nutritious snack.
