‘United by Unique’ is the global theme for World Cancer Day 2025, and Desun Hospital celebrated it with several powerful events that highlighted the unique yet similar experiences of cancer fighters and survivors. The Oncology team organized a balloon release ceremony, staff members staged a flash mob in the OPD, and medical oncologist Dr. Debanti Banerjee gave a health awareness presentation. Patients receiving treatment and cancer survivors presented their motivational stories, emphasizing the strength of perseverance.
The introduction of music therapy as a component of Desun’s comprehensive cancer treatment effort was a major event highlight. To elevate the spirits of cancer patients and their families, Bhorer Pakhi, a group of artists led by renowned voice artist Swapna Dey, enthralled the audience with a moving performance of Rabindranath Tagore’s poetry. The group combined music and recitation. With this project, Bhorer Pakhi and Desun Hospital are launching a partnership that will see monthly music therapy seminars for cancer patients.
“Music and poetry heal. They talk about resilience, bravery, and life. Our goal is to provide cancer patients strength and consolation through our songs and recitations. It is admirable that Desun Hospital is helping to make this effort a reality” said Swapna Dey, the person in charge of the music therapy courses.

A felicitation event celebrating cancer survivors and winners marked the program’s conclusion, reaffirming the hospital’s dedication to providing holistic cancer care that takes into account patients’ emotional and physical recovery. Desun Hospital is still committed to leading the way in cutting-edge patient care programs and creating a supportive atmosphere for cancer patients and their families.
