The upcoming Bengali film Bibi Payra was announced recently. The director of the film is Arjunn Dutta.

No one is more angry than a woman who is scorned. Two weaker women take it upon themselves to change the course of events when they encounter adverse situations. With their limited abilities, these women risk not only themselves but also their allies who assist them in breaking free from this cycle to ensure a better chance at life. They plunge themselves and their closest associates into a maze of confusion and turmoil after a series of unjustified acts and incidents. It remains to be seen in this suspenseful comedy of errors whether they deliver as planned and escape or fail miserably.

The director said “This movie is unique in several ways. It’s my first attempt at an exciting comedy of errors, my departure from urban storytelling to a suburban setting, and the reunion of Paoli and Swastika after over ten years. In addition to these two seasoned professionals, there is an incredibly impressive ensemble cast that includes Anirban, Anindya, and Subrat. I am incredibly grateful to my producer, Mr. Nandy, for supporting this topic, and I can’t wait to approve the project as soon as possible. I can guarantee that the crowd is going to be amazed”.

The cast of the film consists of Swastika Mukherjee, Paoli Dam, Anirban Chakraborty, Anindya Sengupta, Subrat Dutta, Ankita Majhi, Bhabani Mukherjee and Loknath Dey.

Swastika Mukherjee said “After Guldasta and Shrimati, this is my third project with Arjunn, and I couldn’t have wished for a greater role to finish our hat-trick. It is simply a bonus to collaborate with such gifted actors. We have learned to smile our way through every challenge in life. However, do we? We get a peek of that in this movie. I am honored to try and play such characters at this point in my career, something I have never done before and long to do. I am glad Arjunn approached me about this. The audience will undoubtedly sit up and take notice of this never-before-seen or tried edge-of-the-seat humor”.

Paoli Dam said “I knew I was going to do it the moment I heard the script for the first time. You don’t write roles like these every day. And working with Arjunn on a project this unique made me more than thrilled. Bravo to our producer, Mr. Nandy, for supporting a topic that is so focused on women. I can’t wait to start”.

Subrat Dutta said that he was looking forward to working with two talented individuals namely the director and Paoli Dam.

The story, screenplay, and dialogue are by Arjunn Dutta and Ashirbad Maitra.

The music and background score will be composed by Soumya Rit.
