Monoscope is a collection of twenty-five short stories that highlight the topic of the struggles of women in recent times. It involves mainly the darkness of society and the social stigma that modern women have to face even in the 21st century.

The book launch of Monoscope was graced by the author Jharna, Andalib Elias, Hon’ble Deputy High Commissioner of Bangladesh, Kolkata, Premendu Bikash Chaki, and other eminent guests.

The author Jharna is a well-known voice-over artist. She has written scripts, poetry, stories, audio dramas, feature films, and documentaries.

After fighting many battles as a woman, Jharna finally was able to make a name for herself. This journey began with the publishing of her first poetry book Tomar Dewa Naam.

Apart from this, she has also written many songs for eminent Bengali singers like Sreeradha Banerjee, Lopamudra Mitra, Manomoy Bhattacharya, Saikat Mitra, Rupankar Bagchi, Surojit Chatterjee, Anindya Chatterjee, and others.

“The stories that I have penned down are the struggles that every woman has to witness in their life from a small girl to a woman. I will like to keep the journey intact and try to get rid of the darkness with the help of my pen” said Jharna.

The book has been published by Barta Prakashan and is priced at Rs 222.
