“Dangerous Is About The Passionate Love Between Two Women”- Director Ram Gopal Varma
“Same-sex love as a subject matter for a film has always been looked down on or frowned upon by people. Until the Supreme Court passed the law, even same-sex lovers also faced problems. With this film, I wanted to show the passionate love between two girls and not why they became lesbians” said director Ram Gopal Varma.
Actresses Naina Ganguly, Apsara Rani, and director Ram Gopal Varma were in Kolkata for the promotion of the upcoming Bollywood film Dangerous.
Dangerous is the first lesbian crime action thriller in India.
“With this film, we want to extend our support for the LGBT community and let people understand that same-sex love is also normal. I hope that this film changes the perception of people toward this community. As an individual, I have always believed in LGBT rights as I always felt they have been sidelined in our society” said actress Apsara Rani.
Apsara Rani wanted to do something out-of-the-box as a new actress. she praised Naina for being a cooperative and supportive co-star.
Dangerous narrates the story of two women who have some bad experiences with men. With the passing of time, they passionately fall in love with each other. The film shows how violently they fight the men to protect their love.
Naina Ganguly said “Initially I was apprehensive of whether I should do this role. But RGV sir and Apsara convinced me to do this role. And I also want to thank my family who supported me in doing this role. I was friends with Apsara from before so that helped me to perform well. We used to burst out laughing while doing intimate scenes. We had great fun shooting. This was the first time that I was kissing a heroine and not a hero. It was a great experience”.
The film will be released in three languages respectively- Hindi, Telegu, and Tamil. The Hindi name of this film is Khatra/Dangerous while the Telegu name is Maa Ishtam and the Tamil name is Kaadhal Kaadhaldhaam.
The director also added that this is probably the first film that will show romantic duets between two women.
Rajpal Yadav, Palak Singh, Gordhan Singh, Mithun Purandare, and others will be seen in pivotal roles in the film.
A cake was also cut to celebrate the director’s upcoming birthday (7th April).
The film will release on 8th April.
