Known for its emphasis on academic excellence and developing leaders for the global corporate world, the Eastern Institute for Integrated Learning in Management Kolkata (EIILM-Kolkata), one of India’s top business schools, recently announced its newest partnership with Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC), of The City University of New York (CUNY), USA.

It was graced by Prof. (Dr.) Rama Prosad Banerjee, Chairman and Director, EIILM – Kolkata, and Dr. Sanjay Ramdath, Vice President of Enrollment Management, Enrollment Management Services, Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC), The City University of New York (CUNY), USA.

In November 2024, a Statement of Shared Interest was formally signed in Mumbai, the Business Capital of India, confirming the relationship. Through the recently formed partnership, BMCC students will have more options to study overseas and take part in exchange programs, and EIILM-Kolkata students will be able to enroll in BMCC courses.

According to Ministry of External Affairs figures from 2022, approximately 1.3 million Indian students are enrolled in international programs. Indian students’ growing desire for a top-notch education and improved employment opportunities is reflected in the growing number of them choosing to study overseas. Through this partnership, EIILM-Kolkata students will gain important knowledge from the distinguished instructors at BMCC’s Business Management department. Students at EIILM-Kolkata benefit from this partnership by being able to participate in international exchange initiatives. According to recent studies of study abroad trends, this deal also expands opportunities for BMCC students, which is consistent with the growing trend of American universities looking to form strategic alliances in India.

A shared vision for academic and professional development led to a sincere relationship between BMCC and EIILM-Kolkata. It develops into a cooperative innovation and status that greatly benefits both institutions. Together, the courses seek to improve India’s academic and professional environment, foster future leaders, and establish a forum for information sharing.
