Mahendra Singh Bhadouria (CEO-Garden Vareli), Mr. Debi Prasad Patra, Managing Director & CEO, MCPI Private Ltd, Arpita Chatterjee, actress, and Abanti Chakraborty, director of the play, graced the press conference to announce the amazing collaboration of Garden Vareli with theatrical production My Name Is Jaan.

The play is a great tribute to the legendary Gauhar Jaan.

At the press conference, Arpita Chatterjee said, “This is my second theatrical venture as an actress for the stage. I had earlier done a play, Notir Puja, directed by Kaushik Sen. This is the second time I have acted on the stage. My production company, Studio Nine, is producing the play, and hence that is a first for my company”.

Arpita Chatterjee became nostalgic while speaking about the brand Garden Vareli. “When I was small, my mother and my aunts used to go to the Garden stores to purchase their saris and dress materials for me before the Durga Puja. This was done religiously every year by them. The amazing quality, beautiful prints, and affordability were some of the reasons why they were drawn to this brand”.

Director Abanti Chakraborty shared that Arpita was the first choice for the role of Gauhar Jaan. “She is beautiful, can act, sing, and dance. She is a complete package just like Gauhar Jaan, and I could not think of anyone else than her to do this role. She has done an amazing job,” said the director.

Arpita Chatterjee also revealed that it was during the second wave of COVID-19 that this project was conceptualised. They had a lot of time on their hands, and hence they could think of such a project. Hence, this was something good that came out during the depressing COVID-19 times.

The play will be staged on 10^th May at 6.30 pm at Kala Mandir, Kolkata.
