Great Focus On Women’s Health & Empowerment At BOGSCON 49

The Bengal Obstetric & Gynecological Society (BOGS) will hold a special Public Forum on “Saving Women’s Lives and Awareness” as part of its 49th Annual Conference, BOGSCON 49, which is set for December 19–21, 2025, at ITC Royal Bengal, Kolkata, reaffirming its unwavering commitment to women’s health and empowerment.
The forum will be led by Dr. M. M. Samsuzzoha, President, BOGS, and Dr. Tulika Jha, Honorary Secretary, BOGS.
They will outline the Society’s strategic vision and ongoing initiatives to increase women’s access to high-quality healthcare, with a particular emphasis on marginalized and underprivileged groups.
The distinguished panel will feature eminent medical professionals Dr. Dibyendu Banerjee and Dr. Sebanti Goswami, alongside leading voices from education, civil society, media, and culture. The panelists include Mrs. Seema Sapru, Principal, The Heritage School; Ms. Kasturi Raha, President, Calcutta Club; acclaimed film personality and rights activist Ms. Debleena Dutt; Ms. Priyanka Roy, Assistant Editor, T2; and Mr. Abijit Ganguly, Beyond Academics.
The main topics of discussion will be the importance of education and advocacy in reproductive and preventive healthcare, awareness-led interventions to prevent life-threatening conditions affecting women, and the shared responsibility of institutions and society in enabling women to make educated health decisions.
Over 1,200 gynecologists from throughout the state and beyond are anticipated to attend BOGSCON 49, the organization’s premier yearly academic conference. The Society’s emphasis on converting clinical knowledge and advocacy into quantifiable health outcomes is reflected in the conference theme for 2025–2026, Saving Women’s Lives: From Awareness to Action.
Over the course of its more than 90-year history, BOGS has consistently carried out community outreach programs, demonstrating real impact. The Society has completed 100 breast cancer screening tests, 500 cervical cancer screening tests, 700 anemia screenings, and 800 free cervical cancer vaccinations thus far, greatly enhancing early detection and preventive care for women from all socioeconomic backgrounds.
As a founding member of the Federation of Obstetric and Gynaecological Societies of India (FOGSI), BOGS continues to play a significant role in influencing national and regional discussions about women’s healthcare, reiterating its goal of creating a fairer and healthier future for women.
