The fifth installment of Techno India Group’s highly regarded human library talk series, Unwind – Boi Kotha Kow, was held on the Techno India campus as part of the organization’s ongoing efforts to promote experiential and holistic learning. Techno India Group is the biggest education provider in Eastern India.

Unwind-Boi Kotha Kow, an initiative of Prof. Manoshi Roychowdhury, Co-Chairperson, Techno India Group, connects students with professionals from a variety of sectors in person, providing a forum for in-the-moment discussions, life stories, and thought-provoking exchanges. Dr. Sumantra Chattarji, a pioneer in the fields of clinical psychology and mental health, was featured in the fifth edition of this special effort.

A session with the theme “Unveiling The Power Of Psychology With Meaningful Dialogues” explored the intricacies of the human mind, emotional fortitude, and the increasing significance of mental health awareness in the fast-paced world of today. Renowned for his studies and support of emotional health and neuroscience, Dr. Chattarji talked about his experience combining empathy, public involvement, and scientific knowledge. Prof. Manoshi Roychowdhury chaired the session and led a lively conversation between the participating students and the guest.

The Human Library method enables in-depth, sympathetic interaction. Instead of reading books, students “borrow” people to listen to their life stories, ask questions, and engage in stimulating conversations. This potent structure encourages empathy and understanding between people, which is crucial for dismantling stigma and raising awareness.

The worldwide Human Library movement, which got its start in Copenhagen, Denmark, in 2000, served as the inspiration for Unwind by Boi Kotha Kow. Similar to the original program, Unwind “lends people instead of books”, allowing students to ask questions, have meaningful conversations, and hear firsthand accounts of life situations.

Eminent dignitaries like Film Director Mr Sandip Ray, Dr Pradeep Vyas, IFS (Retd), Ms Rangina Hamidi, Former Minister of Education, Afghanistan and Ms Arundhati Bhattacharya, Chairperson & CEO, Salesforce India graced the previous editions of this initiative.
