Director Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri is currently in the United States for the global premiere of his eagerly anticipated film, The Bengal Files. Recently, the movie and its creators were at the heart of a dispute. In West Bengal, a number of members of Mamata Banerjee‘s Trinamool Congress (TMC) filed numerous formal complaints (FIRs) against the movie, its producer, Abhishek Agarwal, Pallavi Joshi, and maker Vivek Agnihotri. They were accused of displaying contentious material in the film.

But suddenly things are going Agnihotri and the movie’s way. After hearing their argument, the High Court temporarily halted the FIRs to provide them with temporary relief. As the filmmakers continue to support their film, this action is interpreted as a forceful response from Agnihotri’s side. In light of the growing political tension surrounding The Bengal Files, the team feels relieved by the court’s ruling.

The Lake Town Police Station’s FIR against The Bengal Files has been placed on hold. All associated processes have been stopped by Justice Jay Sengupta, who has mandated that Vivek Agnihotri and others remain unpunished until August 26. August 19 is the day of the upcoming court hearing.

Due to the revelation of the hidden past, the teaser for The Bengal Files has generated a lot of interest. Mamata Banerjee’s party is concerned about potential discoveries in Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri’s upcoming film, which is known for its daring narrative and extensive research. The film’s creators had previously made it clear that it was the result of a great deal of research. Pallavi Joshi and Vivek Agnihotri, meanwhile, are presently on a U.S. tour that started on July 19 and runs through August 10.

The Bengal Files is written by Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri and produced by Abhishek Agarwal and Pallavi Joshi. It stars Mithun Chakraborty, Pallavi Joshi, Anupam Kher, and Darshan Kumar. The film, presented by Tej Narayan Agarwal & I Am Buddha Productions, is part of Vivek’s Files trilogy, which includes The Kashmir Files and The Tashkent Files.

The film will arrive in theatres on September 5, 2025.
