Homebound- India’s Official Entry For The 98th Oscar Award

A press conference was organized by the Film Federation of India to announce the film that will be India’s official entry for the 98th Academy Awards.
Homebound has been selected as the official entry for the 98th Academy Awards.
Caste, religion, and the more sinister aspects of Indian society are all addressed in Homebound.
Homebound will release on the 26th of September.
The selection committee members for the Oscar Award 2025 were N. Chandra (Chairman), Ranbir Pushp, Angelica Monica Bhowmick, Abhishek Jain, Surinder Singh, Ratnottama Sengupta, Apurva Motiwale, Akshay Kumar Parija, Suresh Urs, Tammareddy Bharadwaj, Aimee Baruah, R. V. Uthayakumar, Rajiv Anchal, and Rajiv Vijayakar.
“There were twenty-four films. We also believed it to have an Indian ethos. It was also a really grassroots movie. Numerous topics, performances, and emotions were covered, and the division of rural India was depicted straightforwardly,” said N. Chandra.

There were 24 films submitted. Apart from Homebound, the other films submitted was I Want To Talk (Hindi), Tanvi The Great (Hindi), The Bengal Files (Hindi), Pushpa 2 (Telegu), Kesari Chapter 2 (Hindi), Superboys of Malegaon (Hindi), Sthal (Marathi), Kannappa (Telegu), Meta The Dazzling Girl (Silent Film), Sambar Bonda (Marathi), Dashavatar (Marathi), Vanvaas (Marathi), Paani (Marathi), Gandhi Tatha Chettu (telegu), Aata Thambaycha Naay (Marathi), Sekhar Kammula’s Kubera (Telegu), Boong (Manipuri), Sankranthiki Vasthunnam (Telegu), Humans In The Loop (Hindi), Jugnuma (Hindi), Phule (Hindi), Veera Chandrahasa (Kannada) and Pyre (Hindi).
Since no Bengali filmmaker submitted their films, no Bengali film was part of the list.
