Illegal Arms Trade in Bengal To Be Showcased in Bengali Film Rifle; Shooting in Progress
The shooting of the upcoming Bengali film Rifle was in progress at JW Marriott, Kolkata.
Present at the shooting was Arpita Chatterjee, Pujarini Ghosh, Rudranil Ghosh, Kamaleshwar Mukherjee and director Raajhorshee De.
The film is based on Rupak Saha’s unpublished story by the name of Khuchro Poysar Jonyo. The film is about the illegal arms trade that takes place in Bengal. The film throws light on the illegal racket which uses different kinds of coins to make arms.
Speaking in between shots, Arpita Chatterjee said “There has been a recent trend of women cops in Hindi and Bengali films. I play a female cop in the film. I have stunts in the film and so I am training for close combat scenes. Boxing is what I am training in. I had the basic strength as I work out regularly. So I am ready for the challenge”.
The director said that the factories which manufacture such illegal arms are mainly located near the border areas of Bangladesh including the districts of Kaliachak and Malda.
The dialogues and screenplay are by Sougata Basu.
The director is also awaiting the release of two more films namely Purba Pashchim Dakshin (Uttar Asbei) and Shubho Noboborsho this year.
Pujarini plays Shikha Ghosh in the film. The actress mentioned that the girl is a modern day girl who is very desperate. “I got the briefing that I will have to play the character which after an event becomes very sad. Since I am a very happy go lucky person, this was very challenging for me” said the actress.
Kamaleshwar plays Colonel in the film. The actor did not want to reveal much about his role as that would give away much about the thriller. The actor who had worked before with the director was excited to work with him again in the film.
Different scenes were being shot throughout the day. Some included Rudranil Ghosh’s opening sequence, sequence between Arpita and Kamaleshwar and many more.
