Kan Pete Roi- A Special Tribute On World Radio Day

In a heartfelt tribute to the timeless medium of radio, a special cultural program titled “Kan Pete Roi” was held at The Yellow Turtle. Organized by The Dreamers in collaboration with 91.9 Friends FM, the event marked World Radio Day with a blend of nostalgia, music, and storytelling.
The evening served as a bridge between generations, celebrating the enduring magic of the airwaves. The program was headlined by two distinguished figures in the Bengali cultural sphere: renowned singer Haimanti Ray and veteran presenter Debasish Basu.
The event’s title, Kan Pete Roi, perfectly captured the essence of the radio-listening experience.

Haimanti Ray enchanted the audience with her signature “Kathay o Gane” (Stories and Songs) segment, weaving together soulful melodies and personal anecdotes.
Debasish Basu took the attendees on a journey through time with “Radior Golpo” (Stories of the Radio), sharing historical insights and behind-the-scenes tales from the golden era of broadcasting.
The atmosphere at The Yellow Turtle was intimate and reflective, with the stage backdrop featuring a vintage radio—a symbol of the medium’s legacy. The live session brought together radio enthusiasts and music lovers who gathered to honor the voices that have informed and entertained the public for decades.

World Radio Day highlights the importance of radio as a low-cost, high-reach medium that remains vital even in the digital age. By hosting this event, The Dreamers and 91.9 Friends FM emphasized that while technology evolves, the human connection fostered by radio remains irreplaceable.
The program concluded with a shared sense of appreciation for the theater of the mind, proving that even in 2026, the world is still listening.
