The Biswa Bangla Convention Centre hosted the esteemed Disha Samman 2025’s eighth edition.

The largest eye care chain in Eastern India, Disha Eye Hospitals, organized Disha Samman, an event that honored people and organizations that tirelessly strive for the well-being of people with visual impairments.

This year’s awardees consisted of Lt Col Dwarakesh as The Youth Icon, Mr Paritosh Biswas for His Inspirational Service, and the Blind & Para Judo Association of Bengal for Excellence in Combat Sports.

A veteran railway official from Kolkata, Mr. Paritosh Biswas, has been with Eastern Railways for more than 36 years as the recognizable guiding voice at Sealdah Station despite being visually challenged. He has inspired millions of commuters with his service. Lt Col Dwarakesh, an Indore-based Army officer, lost his sight while on duty but went on to excel in Paralympic shooting and mountaineering. He continues to serve in the Army administration while inspiring the youth with his discipline and bravery. With hundreds of visually impaired teens and young people training in combat sports like Judo and Martial Arts, the Blind & Para Judo Association of Bengal is a trailblazing academy that has produced champions who have brought honors to the state and country.

Disha Samman 2025 was graced by eminent personalities like Air Marshal Ajay Kumar Pan, Sri Rajeev Saxena, Divisional Railway Manager, Eastern Railway, Sealdah Division, Sri Jasram Meena, Sr. Divisional Commercial Manager, Eastern Railway, Sealdah Division, Renowned Singer, Mr Rupankar Bagchi, and Dr Debashish Bhattacharya, Chairman & Managing Director, Disha Eye Hospitals.

In 2018, the first Disha Samman edition took place. Disha Samman has been a platform that honors bravery, tenacity, and the outstanding accomplishments of people who push the limits of what is possible in spite of obstacles for seven blissful years.

Each recipient of Disha Samman received a plaque and a cash prize of Rs 1,00,000/-.
