Madhumita Sarcar Looked Beautiful At The Student Showcase Root Code

At the esteemed Calcutta Times Fashion Week 2026, the Indian Institute of Fashion and Design (IIFD) Kolkata served as the Title Partner and showcased its most recent student showcase, “ROOT CODE – Rooted to the Culture: Design for the Future”.
The ROOT CODE collection, which was conceived and created by the up-and-coming designers of IIFD Kolkata, examined the developing conversation between India’s rich cultural legacy and modern fashion sensibilities. The event was held in one of Kolkata’s most upscale hotels. The exhibition demonstrated how traditional textile traditions, motifs, and craftsmanship can be reinterpreted to produce designs that are appropriate for a contemporary global audience.
The runway showcased an eye-catching fusion of Indo-Western silhouettes, combining artisanal surface detailing and Indian drapes with structured Western tailoring. Asymmetrical cuts, corset-inspired blouses made from hand-textured materials, and layered jackets worn with flowing skirts all demonstrated the designers’ innovative and forward-thinking style.
Actress Madhumita Sarcar attended the showcase as a VIP guest, adding glitz to the evening. Several fashion and lifestyle influencers from Kolkata were also in attendance.
IIFD Kolkata’s participation at Calcutta Times Fashion Week 2026 as a Title Partner demonstrated the institute’s function as a catalyst for up-and-coming talent and designers prepared for the workforce. The ROOT CODE showcase reaffirmed the institute’s belief that fashion’s future depends on remaining firmly grounded while creating designs for a world that is changing quickly.
IIFD Kolkata is furthering its goal of equipping the upcoming generation of designers with creativity, technical prowess, and a strong sense of cultural identity through this partnership and runway show.
