Deri Hoe Geche is an upcoming Bengali film by Saptaswa Basu that stars eminent actors Mamata Shankar and Anjan Dutt in important roles.

To promote the film in a new way, a press conference with the director and the cast was organized at Oxford Bookstore.

The event was moderated by director Pratim D. Gupta.

Dutt portrays a lonely 70-year-old retired police officer, Rishi Chatterjee. Despite his intelligence and self-assurance, he harbors regret. He lacks the touch of domestic life and is a little dirty and disheveled. Shankar, on the other hand, portrays a sophisticated guesthouse owner, Sanghamitra Guhathakurta, who has established a disciplined lifestyle. The journey of two characters who are destined to cross paths multiple times throughout their lives is the subject of this movie. The narrative is shaped by what transpires throughout such times.

Speaking at the event, Anjan Dutt said, “I will be working with Mamata Shankar after some time. That raised my interest, and hence I asked the director to narrate to me the story of the film. We have developed a great friendship. I am comfortable working with her. I trust her, and she trusts me too. We can talk about many things. I know her very well”.

When asked whether Mamata was only a friend to Anjan Dutt, he said, “She has always been a good friend. I have thought of nothing more than that”.

Anjan Dutt said that there are certain roles that Mamata Shankar would do wonderfully as an actor. “She could act in dignified roles that require sensitivity. I am not sure whether she would be able to pull a role that needs violence,” said the actor.

The director said, “Anjan da listened to the story and checked the cast before agreeing to the film. I plan a film not only because I have to make a film. I make a film because I feel that a certain story needs to be told. Anjan da asked me many questions before the shoot. And I answered them to the best of my abilities. After working with eminent actors in my last few films, I am now more confident than before”.

Mamata Shankar revealed that after working on around 18 films together, she never felt tired of working with him. “I enjoy working with him. Though I get a bit angry at times, it is hard to stay angry at him. He is a great actor to work with. We often discuss the scenes in between shots so that we can act better. There is a great level of trust between us,” said the actress.

The actress also added that the level of understanding between her and Dutt is so great that they both know what the other will be doing in a particular scene. That helps a lot in enacting a scene.

Apala Chowdhury has penned the story for the film.

The film is eyeing for release on the 28^th of November.
