One of India’s largest cinema chains, Miraj Cinemas, opened its first property in Kolkata. This is the second property of Miraj Cinemas in West Bengal after Miraj Cinemas in Howrah. Miraj Cinemas was launched in the presence of Mr. Debashish Sen, Chairman HIDCO, Mr. Bhuvanesh Mehendiratta, VP P&L, Miraj Cinemas.

At a time when top multiplex players had put a pause on or slowed down their screen expansion plans across the country, Miraj Cinemas moved into expansion mode and launched an array of new properties.

The multiplex is located in the Terminus Building of Newtown.

The multiplex consists of five Audis with an overall seating capacity for 1078 audiences. The theatre boasts of a state-of-the-art Dolby digital sound system and 3D Projection System enabled on all screens with projectors from Barco. To enhance the film viewing experience, comfortable recliner seats in every Audi, the state-of-the-art stylish lobby of 10000 sq ft are also available.

The attractions of the place would be the Chef’s Corner that houses a live kitchen set up ready to roll out pizzas, burgers, sandwiches on audience demand, and a Kid’s Play area where parents would be able to leave behind their toddlers amidst colorful toys and under the supervision of experienced nannies.

The multiplex starts its journey with Rajkumar Rao & Jahnvi Kapoor starrer Bollywood film Roohi and will be soon showing other Hollywood and regional films.

Miraj Cinemas at present becomes the fifth largest multiplex operator in India with 147 screens, 51 multiplexes in 37 cities and 14 states across the country.
