Santoor Ashram and Play On organized a press meeting to introduce a music prodigy from the United States of America, Ahilan Hatti. Also gracing the occasion was Pandit Tarun Bhattacharya.

At the Calcutta Rowing Club on July 4, 2024, the philanthropic organization of Santoor Legend Pt. Tarun Bhattacharya named Santoor Ashram will host the East West Live Musical Evening.

The musical evening’s goal is to support and give future artists a platform to display their abilities.

Pandit Tarun Bhattacharya said “It is important to make the youth aware of the Indian musical tradition. Indian music does not mean Bollywood music. Hence Santoor Ashram wants to make the youngsters aware of the different Indian musical instruments. Santoor was one of them. It is not immensely popular. But the tradition must be passed on, which is what we want with Santoor Ashram”.

Ahilan shared that he liked the musical compositions of Pandit Ravi Shankar and Pandit Nikhil Banerjee.

“I listened to a Santoor performance and I was mesmerized by it. It was then I decided to learn this musical instrument” said the young musician.

Ahilan Hatti and Jyotirmay Roychowdhury, an A Grade Tabla Player performed live at the press conference and mesmerized the audience.
