Cancer has a profound and wide-ranging effect. Nevertheless, the human spirit brightens the road to recovery even in the darkest circumstances. Bone cancer is one of the most difficult types of this misleading disease. It aims to undermine the very basis of human nature by striking at the center of the human structure. The fight against bone cancer is a testament to the human condition, marked by a tenacious pursuit of normalcy and health in the face of adversity. The inspirational “Ortho Onco Champions Meet” was held by Medica Superspecialty Hospital to honor resiliency and optimism.

The event was graced by both the bone cancer survivors and their caregivers.

The event’s guest of honour was Mr. Nicolas Facino, Executive Director Alliance française du Bengale.

Also gracing the occasion were Mr. Partha Sarkar, Chairman, Cancer Awareness and Prevention Committee, Rotary International, District 3291, Swami Suparnananda, Secretary, RKM Institute of Culture, Goplark, Shri Shakti Prasad Mishra, Nivedita Chair, Centre for Indological Studies and Research, RMIC, Golpark, Swami Dheyananda, Principal, RKM Shilpapitha Engineering College and Dr. Kousik Nandy, Consultant – Surgical Oncology (Musculoskeletal), Medica Superspecialty Hospital.

About 4,000 new cases of bone cancer are detected in India alone each year, according to recent data from the Indian Cancer Society. Roughly 5% of cancer cases worldwide are bone cancers. To create a community where survivors can support one another on their ongoing travels and draw mental strength from one another’s experiences, Medica intended to use this Ortho Onco Survivors Meet to create a network of support for patients suffering from bone cancer.
